I believe that each of us has within ourselves what is needed to successfully face the challenges of life. Most of the time we are able to use our inner resources to successfully navigate on our own. However, there may be times when it is helpful to have a different perspective in order to reach a resolution. I will work with you, your child or your family to help you discover, or rediscover, your strengths and resilience.
I have 30 years of experience as a therapist working with children, adults and families seeking help with all kinds of life challenges. Prior to working as a therapist, my experience involved working with children who have developmental disabilities, children and families involved in the child welfare system and as a medical social worker.
When working with children, I believe that involvement of the family is crucial to helping them handle life transitions, stressful circumstance and trauma. Parents have more influence than anyone else in a child’s life. At times it may be necessary for us to work together on new and creative ways of interacting with your child to sustain the changes you want to see.
I believe that feeling comfortable with the therapist you choose is vital to the change process. I encourage you to ask questions prior to scheduling your first appointment.
If I feel that I am not able to help you, I would be happy to refer you to another therapist who I trust will be able to.
One of my other great passions is training other therapists. I have provided supervision to a number of clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists and professional counselors over the years. I would love to be part of your professional journey.
